AWLabs

The record, in one place.

Who funds the research, who validates the methods, what is protected, and where the instruments actually run. No competitor can copy a regulatory position; this page is ours, with the references to check it.

Grants & public funding

Grants & public funding

Roughly 70% of AWLabs R&D is covered by competitive public funding: €1.9M+ in active grants and pipeline.

Publications

Publications

AWLabs publishes with its clinical and academic partners rather than about itself. The joint publications with UZ Brussel (Johan Guns) opened the European regulatory debate on biological IAQ standards; the validation work with ULB CREST (Carlo Iorio) underwrites the analytical methods. The complete list, with authors, journals, years, and DOIs, is being compiled for this page and will carry links to every public record.

The field record

Where the instruments run.

Deployments are how the laboratory gets its data, and they are also the clearest answer to whether anyone wants this. Both readings are below.

Named with each institution’s agreement. The site-by-site split between proof of concept, research deployment, and clinical pilot is being confirmed with each partner before it is published here.

10 hospital letters of intent. In conversion across Europe and beyond through 2026. The institutions are not named: an LOI is not a signed contract, and publishing a logo before there is one is the practice this site refuses.

Workplace environment

Where the risk concentrates

Three environments, one failure mode.

The instruments are built for the places where an undetected airborne hour is most expensive. Not three markets: three versions of the same unmeasured variable.

Hospitals & care

Healthcare-associated infections, EN ISO 14644 classification, JCI and HAS accreditation cycles. When an outbreak is investigated, the question is what the institution measured — and air is the one vector with no answer.

Pharma & laboratories

GMP clean rooms under FDA and EMA expectations that keep moving from periodic sampling toward continuous, documented environmental control. A biological excursion caught late is a lost batch.

Critical buildings

WELL certification and ESG disclosure are pulling indoor environmental quality onto the balance sheet. Biology is the part of it nobody can currently report.

Regulatory trajectory

Where European IAQ regulation is going, and where we stand in it

Until now

European IAQ rules address comfort and chemistry: CO₂, particulates, ventilation rates. Airborne biology is unregulated.

The debate opens

Joint publications with UZ Brussel put biological IAQ standards on the European regulatory agenda.

Standards form

Working groups move toward measurable biological criteria for critical environments. Reference methods are being selected now.

AWLabs position

Patented detection, accredited validation partners, and an EU consortium coordination role: the method regulators can point to.
